Woman Tutoring Child

Child and Youth Psychoeducational Assessments are completed by Kim Schellenberg, Registered Psychologist.

A complete assessment include:

  • One intake session with the parent(s) where your psychologist will establish the referral question(s) and explore developmental and academic history.

  • Two sessions for standardized testing that measures cognitive ability/intelligence (IQ) and academic achievement.

  • Completion of rating scales from multiple raters (e.g., self report and teacher and parent rating scales) across different environments (e.g., home and school).

  • A formal, written report that includes specific, individualized recommendations that are tailored to the strengths and challenges of the client’s unique learning profile.

  • A feedback meeting with the parent(s) where your psychologist will thoroughly explain the results and recommendations of the psychoeducational report and answer any questions you may have.

Fees for Psychoeducational Assessments are based on the Psychologist Association of Alberta Recommended Fee Schedule

The fee for assessment services are based on the number of hours and tools required to complete an assessment.

Each assessment will be completed based on the individual child's needs; therefore there is no set cost.

The exact cost of a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment will depend on the referral question(s), test measures administered to answer the referral question(s), how far the examinee progresses in each sub-test, and the ability of the examinee to work efficiently.

However, the total cost for all psychoeducational assessments will fall in the range of $1500 and $2000.

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to become a teacher and eventually pursue a Masters degree in Psychology. As a registered psychologist in the Grande Prairie area, I am committed to the well-being of all my clients and strive to go above and beyond to cater to their needs.

I have been practicing in the area of education and school psychology since 2008. In addition to being a practicing psychologist I have been a teacher, school mental health therapist, and school administrator.

I specialize in psychoeducational assessments and focus on providing a clear understanding of the learning needs of children and creating plans to help teachers meet those needs within the classroom.
